Copenhagen, May 16, 2022

Piet Coelewij joined the Board of Directors in October 2021 and takes over the position as Chairman from Walther Thygesen, who is retiring. The appointment further strengthens the competencies of the company’s Board as Sonion continues to build on its position as a global leader in the development and manufacturing of cutting-edge audio components. Walther Thygesen says: “I am very pleased that Piet Coelewij has agreed to take over the position as Chairman. During the past 6 months, Piet and I have worked on the transition, and during this period Piet has demonstrated strong strategic skills and deep understanding on how to commercialise innovation, from which Sonion will benefit.”
Walther Thygesen continues: “In October 2021, when we nominated Piet to the Board of Directors of Sonion, we focused on his vast international experience and his expertise in areas that are strategically important to Sonion.
Piet possesses profound knowledge in strategic analysis and global product development of advanced consumer audio technologies.” Piet Coelewij says: “I am delighted to take over the position as Chairman of Sonion. I am looking forward to supporting Sonion in building on its strong position in the market and – together with the management – contribute towards realising further growth

potential.” In addition to the new Chairmanship, Sonion has also added two new faces to the Board of Directors: Mikael Worning and Henrik Kjær Hansen. During his career, Mikael Worning has held several executive positions in the hearing health and audio industry, including 25 years at Demant. Today, he holds several chairman and board positions, including as Chairman of CellaVision and Tandlægen.Dk and board member of 3Shape. Henrik Kjær Hansen is Senior Partner and Head of Principal Investments, New Investments at global life science investor Novo Holdings A/S. Before joining Novo Holdings in 2017, Henrik Kjær Hansen was employed as Senior Vice President in Moelis & Co. in London.
Like Walther Thygesen, Jesper Mailind and Peter Andén are retiring from the Sonion Board of Directors. “I’d like to welcome Mikael and Henrik to the Board of Sonion. Both bring important competencies and experience that can help strengthen the leading position of Sonion even further. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Walther as well as Jesper and Peter for their tremendous efforts and contributions to the Sonion Board, which has helped bringing the company to where it is today,” says Piet Coelewij. The change within Sonion’s Board of Directors was confirmed at the General Meeting on May 10, 2022.
